Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, change your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront with heated private pool (optional),beach access, close to town center has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
