Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Rain Forest, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
