Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Rain Forest, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
