Emerald Isle rental home tips:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Shamrock, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
