Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the rightvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Quaint and Affordable Beach Cottage - Near Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
