Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. WRAP AROUND DECKS ON ALL FLOORS! Still time to book. 2 weeks left in July! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
