New Bern rental home booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. FALL GETAWAY!! Beat the heat. And the crowds! Ocean view from 3rd floor deck. has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
