Vacation rental tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- First, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful views from our 2nd row home with 2022 updates has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
