Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Front Home-Shearwater has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
