Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental home in Emerald Isle:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Just Enough, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
