Tricks and tips to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best New Bern rental home:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Well maintained 4 bed/4 bath house in quiet area has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
