Finding the best New Bern vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Reserve your New Bern rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Well maintained 4 bed/4 bath house in quiet area has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
