Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. - Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the rental. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.

- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
