The Ultimate Dune is just what you're looking for. It's an oceanfront bungalow on the wide side of the island with tons of space for your friends and family. Dune features its own private beachfront deck with a boardwalk down to the beach.
HI, WE'RE NEW HERE
The home was purchased in the winter of 2021 and the new owners have been busy making upgrades to take it from a duplex to a massive single-family home with crisp new paint and furnishings to give the overall aesthetic a fresh new look. Be on the lookout for more changes as we go or follow us on Instagram: @theultimatedune
LIVING SPACES
Since Dune was a duplex in the past, there are two living rooms. Each one has intelligent TVs equipped with Roku and Chromecast, respectively, for streaming your favorite content. There's a PS4 and a Wii with games for rainy days too. Each side of the home also has a dining space for morning coffee, family feasts, and game nights. There is only one kitchen now. Dune is a comfortable mix of midcentury pieces and up-cycled beachy furnishings. 'Ultimately' we tried to give this one-level home a modern take on a late 60s surf shack.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
There are five bedrooms, each with their own unique styling:
1. West queen suite: one queen, a modest ensuite bathroom, and TV
2. West double: two twin beds
3. West king: one king bed, no TV (for who prefer a peaceful room)
4. East queen suite: one queen bed, huge ensuite bathroom, and TV
5. East king: one king bed and TV
There are two full bathrooms with tubs and showers in the halls - one on each side, east and west.
KITCHEN
The kitchen is outfitted with the usual suspects - stainless steel pots and pans, nonstick pans, silverware, knives, blender, Kitchen Aid stand mixer pro, two drip coffee makers, French press, electric flat top griddle, tupperware, drink ware, silverware, and more. The pantry has a collection of herbs and spices for your dinners in.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
You're just a short trip away from eateries, grocery stores (Publix and Food Lion), and the Emerald Isle bridge. The Bogue Inlet Pier and Surf's Up Grille is less than a mile away by way of the beach.
LINENS
Clean linens supplied by a local company and are included for your stay (sheets, pillowcases, light quilts, towels, bathmats, and kitchen towels). All you need are your beach towels. And clothes. Don't forget clothes.

How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The ultimate OCEANFRONT bungalow close to everything has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
