Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the best New Bern vacation home:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Private 3BR Historic Farmhouse near downtown New Bern on 33 acres has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
