How to get the best New Bern rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the best New Bern vacation home:

  • First, have your group agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Blue Water D105; Oceanview condo, Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
