How to find the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Glori East\/Oceanfront
Ocean views from every room has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search. - Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
