Tricks and tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation rental experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Atlantic Beach Home By Fort Macon State Park has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
