Vacation rental booking tips:

Get the best rental value:

  • To book the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking the best New Bern vacation home:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Relax at this classic beach cottage. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
