How to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Dolphin's Run, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
