Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Cozy Beaufort Home with Hot Tub and Boat Driveway has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
