Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly, Oceanside Interior Home Private Pool, Golf Cart, and Easy Access. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
