Get the most from your rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To book the best rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance.   • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
