Our top Rental property booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 3BR Cottage - short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
