Tips to get the very best New Bern rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Updated 5BR Duplex. Dog friendly! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
