Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Beachcomber- Stunning Oceanfront Home in PKS, NC has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
