New Bern rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Fisherman's paradise, large covered porch, pet friendly, & close to Beaufort, NC has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
