Strategies to get the optimal New Bern vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best vacation rental in Beaufort:

Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain New Bern beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
