Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Conch Tales fun, lakeside retreat in amenity filled Beau Coast. New rental! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
