Getting the best Beaufort rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect New Bern vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Retreat "Down East" in Beaufort! - Waterfront, Private Dock, Kayaks, & Serenity! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
