Tricks and tips for getting the best rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Anchor Management - Emerald Isle NC Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
