Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Family Tides 2-Waterside living, 3BR, 2BA, dock, golf cart has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
