How to find the best New Bern rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Seascape, Oceanview House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
