Strategies for getting the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to book:

  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Seabiscuit-Oceanfront Home with Private Pool has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
