Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best rental home in Atlantic Beach:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Saltwater Gospel, Almost Oceanfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
