How to find the best vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Dot's Spot, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
