Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect New Bern rental home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 2nd row, Pool, game room, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, pet friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
