Rivershore Retreat on Big Creek - 170 Gertrude Lane, Beaufort NC 28516
Whether you appreciate fishing, crabbing, kayaking, hunting or just laying on the beach—”Rivershore Retreat” is the place for you! Our beaches are pristine and not busy - laid back and painless going.....

Come stay with us for a week or a weekend and savor our secluded area and beaches. BRING YOUR BOAT/KAYAK or use our kayaks- WE HAVE ADDED A BOAT RAMP FOR OUR GUESTS!!!! Depending on length of your boat and the tide you should be able to launch right there!!!! We have a place for you to dock your boat 20 feet from where you lay your head down to sleep! (The beach area in my photos is accessible by about a 10 min. BOAT ride!) Access to beaches and 30 min. BOAT ride across the river to Oriental to enjoy lunch or an ice cream or just doing the tourist thing. Explore our many creeks and visit Lukens Cemetery. This is a kayaker/sailboaters’ dream! ( I have written instructions in the rental on how to get to a charming little beach about 5 mins. from us and you can drive there! So if you don't have a boat - you can still enjoy our pristine beaches!)

If peaceful and solitude is what you are after—this is your place. No hustle and bustle. Modest community life with nice folks and a church to attend on Sunday morning if you are so inclined.

Read a book on the porch and just relax! Ride out on “The River” and watch the sunset or just watch it from the porch! We have just finished a new sundeck and screened in porch! It's rather marvelous!!!!
Three bedrooms and two full baths mobile home—Recently remodeled master bath!! Full kitchen and washer and dryer for your convenience. All decorated with a coastal flair!!! Wi-Fi included and DishTV and land line phone.

We look forward to sharing our heaven with you!

***Please keep in mind that this is a very secluded place - no hustle and bustle!!!! We do NOT have beach ON our property - the beach in my photos is accessible by a short boat/kayak ride.......Just want to make sure that I point this out again!!!!!

Checkout by 11:00 a.m. - check in at 3:00 p.m. unless prior arrangements have been made..........Just call or message and ask!!! We are pretty simple to work with!

NOTES***If you are bringing family pets we charge a nonrefundable pet fee. Please - no more than 2 pets. NO CATS!
Deposit will be returned if there are no damages. It will be automatically returned in 7 days. We ask that you leave everything like you found it.! We don’t charge a cleaning fee because all of our former renters leave everything great! As long as that’s the case we will continue not to charge the fee. The following will be deducted from deposit in the event of: Excessively dirty- $65 cleaning fee....Excessive dog hair $50.00...dirty dishes $25.00......Trash not taken out and put in outside cans...$10.00.......Thank you!

Weather issues are yet another issue for vacation rental owners to grapple with when it comes to potential cancellation requests. Although severe storms are out of our control, it’s fair to offer a refund to guests when a mandatory evacuation is given.
However, if guests are just unhappy due to bad weather – sorry – no refund. We cannot guarantee the weather for your trip and as long as you are able to use our home – a refund will not be issued.
If there is a hurricane or tropical storm and the State or County of Carteret order a mandatory evacuation a refund will be given for any unused portion of rent from a guest currently registered, any unused portion of rent from a guest that is scheduled to arrive and wants to shorten their stay and any advance rents collected or deposited for a reservation that is scheduled to arrive during the hurricane or tropical storm.
We will be willing to reschedule your trip in lieu of a refund for a later time if one is available.

No refunds will be given for rain, thunderstorms, snow, etc. ONLY for Hurricanes/Tropical Storms.

Booking the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. RIvershore Retreat-Hunting, Fishing, Sailing-Kayakers DREAM! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
