Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. TOWN CREEK 1BD/1BA Guest Suite w/PRIVATE entrance -blocks from Historic Beaufort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
