Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Beaufort. Book your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Speight House, Soundfront House in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
