Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to visit Beaufort & When to book:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing the bestrental home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. NEWLY RENOVATED Sound Front Home with Dock in Downtown Beaufort, NC (Creek Watch) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
