How to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. A Block from the Dock in Beau Coast Classic has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
