Beaufort rental home booking tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. A Block from the Dock in Historic Beaufort has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
