Getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your New Bern vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book your New Bern rental:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 Seasters' Cottage, Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
