Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Surfari, beautiful home on the Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
