New Bern rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect New Bern rental:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Luxury Condo On North Carolina's Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
