Tips for getting the best Indian Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
