Strategies to get the optimal New Bern vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 4BR duplex close to town and ocean front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
