Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Broad Street Bungalow
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, email the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
