How to book the best Beaufort vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Beaufort. To get the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose a perfect New Bern vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Dog-friendly house with porch in downtown Beaufort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
