Getting the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Lookout, Soundside House in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
