Beaufort vacation rental home tips:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your New Bern rental home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The Blue Chill (Elevator in Unit) in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
