Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Toes in the Sand - Oceanview Condo Emerald Isle has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
