Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To book the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:

  • To start, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Hooked Inn @ 8 1\/2 Marina Village with Boat Slip has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
