Booking the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Exhibit E- Pet Friendly Townhome in Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
